Problem: Unable to Write to Output File .PDB

When you perform a build or rebuild of your project VS reports "Unable to write to output file <AFile>.pdb. Unspecified error occurred.

Solution: Restore Missing Files

Most likely you may have moved or removed a file required for the build process.

  1. Using Notepad open the .PDB file.
  2. Go to the right-side of the last line in the file.
  3. While most of the text appears scrambled look for a file name.
  4. This file is the one Visual Studio is seeking.
  5. Move or restire the file to the correct location.
  6. Build the project again.
